इतिहास के पन्नों में हमने बहुत सी प्रेम कहानियां पड़ी है लेकिन उन में एक प्रेम कहानी जो आज भी महोब्बत की मिशाल बनी हुई है वो है शाहजहां और मुमताज की प्रेम कहानी। जिसे आगरा का ताजमहल हर पल बयां करता है। हालांकि सिर्फ मोहब्बत के नजरिए से ही नहीं वास्तुकला के नजरिए से भी ताजमहल बहुत ही अद्भुत इमारत है शायद यही वजह है कि ताजमहल को दुनिया के सात अजूबों में से एक माना जाता है।
ताजमहल को लेकर जो कहानी मशहूर है उसके अनुसार मुमताज मुगल बादशाह शाहजहां की तीसरी बीवी थी। जिनसे शाहजहां को सबसे ज्यादा प्रेम था। और इसी प्यार को जग जाहिर करने के लिए मुगल बादशाह शाहजहां ने अपनी पत्नी मुमताज की मौत के बाद उनकी याद में ताजमहल बनवाया जहां पर मुमताज की कब्र को दफनाया गया।
